Cressey (Creasey) Homestead
This house was where many generations of Cressey's and Halls were born. Caleb Cressey Sr was born in 1744 (supposedly in New Hampshire) cannot find hide nor hair of his parentage or place of birth. Before 1800 he came to Mt Vernon, Kennebec County, Maine, USA. He bought the property in Mt Vernon and lived there at first in the existing house. Around 1800 he built the house that so many of the family were born and died in. Picture of the house on this blog. Caleb Cressey Jr his son was born lived his entire life and died there. Caleb Cressey Jr had a son Albert who was born there on 9May1826 he lived his entire life and died there. Albert married Alma Spaulding, daughter of Parker and Elizabeth Danforth Spaulding. They lived their entire married lives, and both died there. Their daughter Florence married Herbert Hall , lived her entire life, and died there in 1924 of infantile paralasis (Polio). They had a daughter, Rose Alma, and two sons, Benjamin Albert, and Roy Herbert. After Florence's death Benjamin Albert lived there with his first and second wives, and had three boys (2 with his first wife Alera) and after her death married Eva Parent, and proceeded to have 1 boy and 3 girls and then moved to Freeport, Maine. Where he lived out his life until he was killed by a drunk driver in a traffic accident. The hisory that was lived and died with that house when it was burned (because it was no longer safe to explore. I was probably 5 1947. Until next time. Your Genealogy Insider
