The David Gilmore Story.

He was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1699. His parents were David Gilmore and Rebecca Shaw (Shail). He was a member of the High Church of England. In 1727 he married Mary Pearson the daughter of William Pearson and Ann Brough. They had William, Nancy (Anna), and James. in 1731 he came to America bringing William. They landed in Pecataway. He built a home in Woolwich. Maine and sent for his wife and other children in 1739. They proceeded to have Jane, David, Martha and John. Jane married John Carleton, our ancestor) who was shot in the head and blinded for supposedly being a Torie. This happened off Small Point He was taken to the Percy house and his wife was notified, she was at his side when he died four days later. He was buried at night in an unknown location on Walnut Point not far from the house he had built for her. He left her with 9 children to raise. Daivd died on 21Jan1786. Mary died 8Mar1755.
